Oswego Lake Access:
Y0u may or may not be keeping up with all the goings on regarding access to Oswego Lake. Oswego Lake is a private lake. This is an important piece of knowledge if you plan on relocating to Lake Oswego with the intention of enjoying the lake itself. Only shareholders and easement members have access to the lake. If you have questions about this or where you should look for a home with access, please let us know. Not all neighborhoods have easements and some neighborhoods have multiple easements. There are some details that are important to know about.
Lake Oswego Corporation released this statement to the press yesterday morning:
” We are pleased with the court’s decision. The court decided that the claims had no merit and neither our city nor State can be compelled to provide public access to Oswego Lake. The lawsuit did nothing to change the City’s regulations for the safe use of its parks, or the restrictions on access to and the private status of Lakewood Bay and Oswego Lake. We hope this decision will end the needless litigation and allow our City to devote its resources to priorities other than defending itself in court. The Lake Oswego Corporation remains committed to supporting the court’s decision. “
